The Diabetic Support Group was founded by Anne and Frank Bowles along with Martin and Barbara Rhead. Both couples had a relationship with diabetes. The original idea was conceived by Anne & Frank Bowles who are both members of the Mijas LaCala Lions, Anne is the Secretary & Frank is the Press Officer, Martin Rhead was the founder.

It was discovered that there was little or no support for diabetics in Spain through the normal channels, so the Mijas LaCala Lions, through Martin Rhead, helped Anne & Frank to get started under the umbrella of their recognised and established organisation.

Up to now the support group has helped many people in many ways.

The Group provides diabetics with information about how to best manage their condition and supports them in doing so
